Urgent Care GP’s

We are seeking expressions of interest for General Practitioners to work in Launceston’s Medicare Urgent Care Clinic.

This exciting opportunity to provide high-quality, short term, episodic care for urgent conditions that are not immediately life-threatening.

  • Uncapped earning potential – 90% of gross billings

Initially our service will operate from our established General Practice within the Launceston Health Hub. From September 2023, we will relocate to our purposed designed clinic, located at 215 Wellington Street.

Our new clinic will boast the following features:

  • Dedicated Nursing and Administration support
  • Six dedicated treatment beds
  • Undercover ambulance access
  • A designated resuscitation area with defibrillator, airway management equipment, ECG machine, mobile bed, IV fluid resuscitation equipment, and emergency medications
  • After-hours security and duress alarm systems

Clinic opening hours are 2pm – 8pm providing flexible working options,

The Launceston Urgent Care Clinic will be equipped to treat conditions such as:

  • Minor illnesses (including respiratory illness, gastrointestinal illness, urinary tract infections and sexually transmitted infections)
  • Minor injuries including closed fractures, simple lacerations, simple eye injuries and minor burnsThe Launceston Urgent Care Clinic will be equipped to provide the following procedures:
  • Wound management including gluing, suturing and dressings (including for minor burns)
  • Incision and drainage of abscesses
  • Basic fracture management including application of backslabs and plasters
  • Intravenous cannula insertion to allow for IV antibiotics and IV rehydration fluids
  • Urinary catheter management and changes for males and females
  • Removal of foreign bodies from the ear and nose

Essential Criteria

  • FRACGP or FACRRM
  • Advanced Skills Training in Emergency Medicine preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or advanced life support (ALS2) preferred
  • Unconditional registration with AHPRA
  • Eligible for a Medicare Provider Number
  • Recent experience in Emergency Medicine and/or rural medicine
  • Ability to work well in a professional, friendly workplace team
  • Excellent clinical skills
  • Current Advanced Life support accreditation
  • GP professional indemnity insurance
  • A passion for providing high-quality, patient-centered care.

Urgent Care Nurse

We are seeking expressions of interest for both RN’s and EN’s to work in Launceston’s Medicare Urgent Care Clinic.

This exciting opportunity to provide high-quality, short term, episodic care for urgent conditions that are not immediately life-threatening. As a key member of the team, nurses will be responsible for ensuring patients are triaged promptly and provided with front line care in collaboration with the Urgent Care medical practitioner.

  • AHPRA Registered Nurse
  • Previous experience in triage & emergency medicine – 5 years’ experience preferred.
  • Ability to assess and recognise health deterioration and escalate appropriately.
  • Working With Vulnerable People Registration
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written and a high level of critical thinking
  • Can work autonomously and delegate when appropriate.
